Mrs. Catherine T. McSweeny Bowlby, age 82, of 89 Gravesleigh Ter. Pittsfield, died Feb. 12th at the Berkshire Medical center surrounded by her family. Born in Pittsfield, MA. Sept. 21,1934, she was the daughter of the late Francis E. and Helena Grogan McSweeny. She attended the local schools and was a 1951 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School. She later attended the Boston Conservatory of Music.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Bowlby was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, a member the Rosary Sodality and was a former member of Sacred Heart Choir and the former, St. Teresa’s Choir.
She and her husband of 59 years, A. Roger Bowlby , were married Feb. 15,1958 in Sacred Heart Church Pittsfield .
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 4 sons, A. Roger Bowlby, Jr. , of Franklin, MA., Peter J. Bowlby and his wife, Valerie of Chesterfield, MA., Paul F. Bowlby , of Dalton, MA. and Carl A. Bowlby of Pittsfield, 2 daughters, Diane M. Mackey and her husband, Lawrence of Pittsfield and Elaine C. Bowlby of New York, N.Y., she is also survived by 1 sister, Ms. Mary Smith of Pittsfield, 8 grandchildren, Brian Mackey of New York, NY Devin Mackey and his wife, Courtney of South Hadley, MA., Colin J. Mackey of Pittsfield, Erica Bowlby of Maynard, MA., Brianna Bowlby of Wrentham, MA., Christopher Bowlby of Dalton, Hannah Bowlby of Dalton and Noel Bowlby of Pittsfield. Catherine was eagerly awaiting the upcoming birth of her first great-grandchild.
Her brothers, Francis E. McSweeny and James J. McSweeny and her sister, Ms. Elizabeth Principe, predeceased her.
Bowlby, Catherine T. McSweeny, age 82, of Pittsfield, died Feb. 12th. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated this FRIDAY, Feb. 17th at 11:30 am at Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Michael Bernier, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the McSweeny family lot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donation may be made to either the Catholic Charities of Springfield or to the American Cancer Society, both in care of the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME
