Mrs. Charlene E. Snyder Dus, age 74, of Pittsfield, died Thursday afternoon at the Berkshire Medical Center after a long illness. She was born in Pittsfield, Oct. 27, 1942, the daughter of the late Charles and Lillian Doran Snyder. She was educated in the local schools and was a 1958 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Continuing her education, she attended the former Berkshire Business College. Initially employed with the Credit Bureau offices in Pittsfield, she later became employed at the General Electric Co. Naval Ordnance Systems.
Most recently, she served as the President of Inter-Access, a computer firm she and her husband Ricco Dus, formed and operated for 13 years, prior to their retirement.
A communicant of St. Marks Church, she enjoyed camping and RV-ing as well as sewing, doing art projects, baking cakes and ceramics. She helped to form and served as president of the former FAIR group which was formed to protest the rule changes regarding flowers at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Charlene was a woman who enjoyed trips to the Casinos and the slots at Saratoga Raceway. She so enjoyed the spirit of giving at Christmas and the holidays. Charlene and Ricco also enjoyed traveling and especially their many trips to Disney World. Most of all, she enjoyed her role as a wife and loving mother to her children and beloved grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Ricco, with whom she would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this coming July 22nd. Together they designed and built their own home in Richmond which they enjoyed for many years
She is also survived by her two sons, Michael E. Martin and his wife, Lisa, of Northern,Va. and Daniel G. Martin and his wife, Elizabeth, of Rochester, N.Y. , her daughter, Karen M. Jones, of Brandon,Fl., her grandchildren, Brendan, Jacob, Matthew, Nazira, Taylor, Tylyn, Joseph, Janine, Ameera and Sabiha, her 6 great-grandchildren and the expected birth of another great granddaughter in May.
Dus, Charlene E., age 74, of Pittsfield, died March 16th. Calling hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be MONDAY EVENING, March 20th, from 5 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held TUESDAY morning at 9: 15 am from the funeral home followed with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Marks Church with the Rev. David Aufiero, administrator, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Visiting Nurses Association in care of the funeral home.
