Debra J. Carmel, age 54, of 60 Harwich St. Pittsfield, died Friday at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston due to complications from surgery. She was born in Pittsfield, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Marion Gleba Carmel. She attended the local schools and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. Employed  in Food Services throughout her working career, she was employed at Stop & Shop and most recently, at Bagels Too.

Debra enjoyed the outdoors and being surrounded by her family. She enjoyed Board Games and playing cards with family and friends. An avid cross word puzzle solver, she was unbeatable at Scrabble.

She is survived by her fiancée  of 33  years, Timothy  A. Amuso with whom she shared their home.

Additionally, she is survived by her 2 sons, David M. Carmel and his wife, Stephanie M. Carmel of Pittsfield, Nicholas J. Amuso  of Pittsfield, her 2 daughters,  Jessica L. Duprat and her husband, Robert L. Duprat  of Pittsfield, Lisa M. Gallant and her husband,  Jeffrey M. Gallant of Pittsfield, her brother, Michael K. Carmel of Pittsfield, and her 4 sisters, Barbara J. Devine of Denver, Pa., Linda M.  Robertson and Karen A. Carmel, both of Pittsfield and Amy M. Munn of Becket, Ma., and her 4 grandchildren Haleigh, Joey, Ainsley and Declan.

Carmel, Debra J., age 54, of Pittsfield, died Friday, Oct. 20th.   Funeral services will be held SATURDAY, Oct. 28th  at 12 Noon at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Peter Naranjo, chaplain at the Berkshire Medical Center, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home.
