Mr. James H. Crossin, Jr., age 90, of 9 Crane Ave. Pittsfield, died Tuesday evening at the Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born in Pittsfield, June 29, 1926, the son of the late James H. and Mary Grotti Crossin. He was educated in the local schools and was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after and served with the U.S. Army 10th Field Artillery in Central Europe. Mr. Crossin was discharged as a T-5 Sgt. in 1947. He returned home and accepted an appointment with the U.S Postal service serving as a letter carrier as well as a clerk. He retired from the Pittsfield branch with 41 years of service. After his retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed driving  limousine for Abbott’s Limousine Services in Lee. He enjoyed talking to his clients and was proud to have driven  many celebrities and politicians to their destinations.

Jim was an avid bowler and enjoyed traveling to show off his bowling skills and ability. He was a member of the Ralph Froio Senior Center where he enjoyed playing and especially, winning in the game of Pitch. A long time member of the National Letter Carrier Association, he enjoyed bus trips to the area Casinos. A handyman, he improved his own home by designing and completing many different projects. One of his favorite past times was the “ Romeo Club ”, which is a group of gentlemen that  regularly meet at McDonalds  in order to “ solve all the worlds problems’.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Rosemary A. Barile, whom he married Sept. 24, 1955. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Ann-Marie Harris ( David ) of Pittsfield and his son, James H. Crossin III ( Trina ) of Lexington, S.C.. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Patrick, Shaun, and Brandon Harris, and Justine and Jamilyn Crossin as well as one beautiful great-grandson, Braxton Crossin. He also is survived by his nephew, Larry Tiezzi and his two nieces, Susan Tiezzi and Pamela Darwin. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Mary E. Kelly.

 

CROSSIN, JAMES H., age 90, of Pittsfield, died Feb. 7th.Calling hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be FRIDAY from 4 to 7. Funeral services will be held SDTAURDAY morning at 8:15 from the funeral home followed with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 am at St. Charles Church with the Rev. Geoffrey Deeker, Priest in Residence, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity in care of the funeral home.
