Mrs. Rosemary A. (Barile) Crossin, age 88, formerly of 9 Crane Ave. Pittsfield, died Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Rosemary was born in Pittsfield on November 22, 1929, the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence (Chichetto) Barile. She was educated in local schools and was a 1946 graduate of Pittsfield High School.  Upon graduation, Rosemary began working as a clerk at J.J. Newberry’s. In 1948, she graduated from Rose Phillips Academy of Hairdressing and then worked in the hairdressing profession until 1954. Rosemary went on to work as an operator for New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. She also enjoyed working for her brother at Tony’s Pizza on Linden Street and as a home health care worker until her retirement in 1985.

Rosemary, deeply devoted to her religion, was a communicant of St. Charles Church in Pittsfield. She loved playing cards, league bowling, and traveling. She also enjoyed pop culture and celebrity.

Rosemary was famous for her fantastic cooking and thoroughly enjoyed being with and had great admiration for her grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Mr. James H. Crossin Jr., whom she married Sept. 24, 1955. Mr. Crossin died February 7, 2017.

Rosemary is survived by her two children, Ann-Marie Harris (David) of Pittsfield, and James H. Crossin III (Trina) of Lexington, SC. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Patrick, Shaun, and Brandon Harris, and Justine and Jamilyn Crossin, as well as one great-grandson, Braxton Crossin. She also is survived by two brothers, Robert Barile of Kinderhook, NY (Richard) and Anthony Barile (Christine) of Clearwater, FL, as well as 3 nephews, Anthony, David and Mark Barile.

In addition to her husband, Rosemary was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Barile Jr.

Services: Calling Hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be Wednesday, January 24th from 9:30-10:30 AM followed with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11AM at St. Charles Church with the Rev. Geoffrey Deeker, Priest in Residence, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Parkinson’s Foundation in care of the funeral home.
