Ann C. McCaffrey

1932 ~ 2020 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Tribute

Ann C. McCaffrey, 87, of Pittsfield died Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Berkshire Medical Center after a brief illness.

Ann was born in 1932 in Pittsfield, a daughter of the late Peter F. and Mary (Delaney) McCaffrey. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in 1949 and then furthered her education at Marywood College in Pennsylvania, graduating in 1953.  She worked as an elementary school teacher in Pittsfield and later in Germany, teaching the children of US Air Force personnel stationed there.  In 1975, she earned a Master of Arts degree from The College of Saint Rose, and later worked as a speech pathologist and audiologist in Berkshire County elementary schools.

Ann was devoted to her Catholic faith and spent her time between St. Joseph’s Church and St. Mark’s Church, both in Pittsfield. She was also a volunteer with the Pregnancy Support Services of Berkshire County and was very involved in Right to Life. To say Ann was a Red Sox fan was an understatement and she was proud to have watched most of the games every season.

Ann is survived by her brother, Robert McCaffrey and his wife Terry of Henderson, NV, her sister-in-law Frances McCaffrey of Quincy MA and her longtime friend Thomas Roberts. She also leaves 3 nephews and 1 niece, as well as several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Peter and Mary (Delaney) McCaffrey, Ann was predeceased by her brothers, Peter and Jim McCaffrey.

SERVICES: Friends are invited to join the family for a Liturgy of Christian Burial on FRIDAY, March 6th at 9:30AM at St. Joseph’s Church celebrated by Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lee.
