Mr. Anthony J. DiPietro, age 95, of Pittsfield, died Jan. 1st at the Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in Pittsfield on June 13, 1923, the son of the late Brilliante and Emma M. DelGallo DiPietro. Educated in the local schools, he was a 1942 graduate of Pittsfield High School. A U.S. Navy veteran of WW II, Tony served aboard the USS Beltrami and the USS Vulcan, which was part of the submarine service from 1942 through 1947. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Pittsfield where he operated his small contracting firm.
Tony was an avid golfer and loved to play poker.
His wife, Josephine M. Parisi DiPietro, died Jan. 28, 2007.
He is survived by 4 sons, Stanley, Thomas, and Steven DiPietro all of Pittsfield and Gary DiPietro of Cheshire, as well as 4 daughters, Constance Gamari, Kathleen DiPietro and Patricia Pelkey, all of Pittsfield and Jamie DiPietro of Dalton, and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Josephine, he was predeceased by his son, Anthony DiPietro, and two brothers, Theodore and Stanley DiPietro.
