Bernice M (Hoisington) Sakowski

Bernice M. (Hoisington) Sakowski, 95 ½ years young, passed away quietly in her sleep at home on October 26, 2022.

Bernie was born on April 25, 1927 in Woodstock, VT one of 13 children of the late Julia and Horace Hoisington.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters, two sons, Paul E. Hodges and Capt. Michael A. Hodges, USAF, and a grandson, Michael R. Hodges.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl L. Hodges of Pittsfield, her grandsons, Michael A. Hodges of Texas, Brian (Matt) Hodges and his wife Janeth Hodges of Pittsfield, 12 other grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, her sister Hilda Fitzpatrick of Pittsfield and many other nieces, nephews and family members.

Bernice worked as a waitress throughout the years, at Rice’s Silk Mill, and as a housekeeping supervisor. She enjoyed watching TV, especially court shows, mysteries and Disney movies. She also enjoyed completing word search books and eating her beloved Butterfinger candy bars.
