Carl William Dawson, Sr.

Carl William Dawson, Sr., age 69, of Pittsfield died Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Hillcrest Commons following a long battle with dementia. 

Born in Brattleboro, VT on July 25, 1952, Carl was the son of the late Clarman E. Dawson and Claire E. Hoffecker Dawson. He was a 1970 graduate of Brattleboro High School and then went on to earn his Associates Degree in business from Greenfield Community College. 

Carl worked as a manager for R&M Supply on Wahconah St. for 32 years before his retirement.

He joined the Pittsfield Elks Lodge in 1970 and was a lifetime member. Through the Elks, Carl served as the Exalted Ruler and past District Deputy, and created many lifelong connections.

In his younger years he loved being outdoors and camping. He was also an animal lover and gave home to countless cats, birds, turtles, and other furry friends over the years. 

Carl married the former Gloria Gilbert on October 4, 1986. Last year they celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. 

In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by his son, Carl William Dawson, Jr. of Pittsfield, his beloved granddaughter, Holly Dawson, and his daughter Sabrina Parker of Springfield, VT. 

Carl was predeceased by his sister Carman L. Dawson in 2019.

SERVICES: Friends are invited to join with the Dawson family on Wednesday, April 27th from 4-6:30PM at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home with a Lodge of Sorrow Ceremony to begin at 6:30PM. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to "The Elks National Foundation" and mailed to the funeral home at 40 Maplewood Ave. Pittsfield, MA 01201
