Cornelius J. Murphy, Jr., age 75, of Otis and formerly of Palmer, MA passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Berkshire Medical Center after a long period of declining health.
Born in Palmer, MA on May 28, 1946, CJ was the son of the late Cornelius Murphy Sr. and Florence Matrow Murphy. He was a graduate of Palmer High School and was a 25 year volunteer with the Palmer Fire Department. He worked as a metal polisher for Smith and Wesson and retired from Dan Wesson Arms. He also spent two years as the Palmer License Commissioner.
For the last 10 years, CJ and his wife of 47 years, the former Darlene Riley, have co-owned and managed the Mt. View Campground in Otis.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by their children Scott Murphy (Heather) of Freeport, FL, Shannon Boeker of Pensacola, FL, Kane McCord (Tracy) of Palmer, Kathleen Sullivan (Mike Hart) of Otis, and Karen McCord of Hyannis. He also leaves his grandchildren, Cassidy Murphy, Kevin and Jayna Cragin, Michael McCord, Eric Sullivan, Jasmine McCord, Mandy Gemme, Keira McCord and Jazlyn Coyer, 5 great grandchildren, Quinlyn, Brogan, Kellan, Noah and Mateo, his sister, Donna Lowell of Alpine, CA and his beloved nephews, Patrick Reep (Penny), Timothy Reep and James Lowell.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Sandra Damon.
SERVICES: A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 12-2PM at the Mt. View Campground, 1856 S Main Rd, Otis, MA.
