Daniel R Lummus

January 23, 1944 ~ June 4, 2018 (age 74)

Mr. Daniel R. Lummus, age 74, of 16 First St. Dalton, died Monday evening at his home after a long illness. He was born in Pittsfield, Jan. 23, 1944, the son of the late John F. and Margaret Shea Lummus. A U.S. Army veteran, Dan was employed as a flooring installer for Doran Carpet Center in North Adams. He retired in 2014 after 32 years of service with the company. Previously he had been employed as a Wonder Bread route salesperson and for a brief period, he was employed at the General Electric Co. A member of the Dalton American Legion, Post # 155, he held many offices with the Post, including serving as the Senior Vice- Commander, the Post Historian as well as with the Color Guard both Flag detail and with its Rifle Squad. Dan loved the game of Golf and played for many years in the Men’s league at the Bas Ridge Country Club in Hinsdale .An avid Red Sox fan, he was a fan of the Miami Dolphins as well. He and his wife, the former Mary Ann Doran , would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary this coming Sept. 16th. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Daniel R. Lummus, Jr. of Dalton and J.F. Lummus and his wife, Danielle, of Pittsfield, his daughter, Jacqueline Bolanowski and her husband, Ron, of Virginia Beach, Va., his 7 grandchildren,. Calan and Hope Bolanowski, Noah and Hailey Mack, Jordyn, Abriana and Brittany Lummus as well as many nieces and nephews. Dan was predeceased by his brother, J. Frederick Lummus, and his 2 sisters, Peggy Stracuzzi and Beth Bordeau Lummus, Daniel R., age 74, of Dalton, died June 4th. Calling hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be FRIDAY morning , June 8th beginning at 11:00 AM . Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, pastor of St. Agnes Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashuelot St. Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to either the Dalton American Legion, the Dalton Ambulance Fund or the Berkshire Visiting Nurses, all in care of the funeral home.
