April 13, 1950 ~ May 17, 2018 (age 68) 68 Years Old

Tribute

Mr. Almon D. "Dave" Burke, 68, died Thursday, May 17, 2018 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Burke was born April 13, 1950 in Pittsfield, a son of the late Almon F. Burke and Gladys E. (Alexander) Corrente. He attended the local schools, and following high school, went on to honorably serve during the Vietnam War with the United States Marine Corps. He married the love of his life, the former Ann Marie O’Brien in New York State on March 23, 1968, and together started their family in Pittsfield.

Dave worked as a machinist for over 40 years, first for General Electric Co. and later for Lockheed Martin. He was a strong willed man with a heart of gold, and he did everything he could to provide for his family. Dave enjoyed spending time at home, and was content with watching the Sci-Fi channel or the 11 o’clock news.

In their younger years, Mr. and Mrs. Burke loved to take their kids camping, especially to Nickerson State Park and to Hampton Beach. Mr. Burke was also an animal lover- it didn’t matter if it was a squirrel or the family dog Lizzy, because they both held a special place in his heart.

Dave is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann Marie, of Pittsfield, their three children, Dawn Spagnuolo and her husband Justin of Hinsdale, David Burke and his longtime companion Katie of Pittsfield, and Dale Burke of Pittsfield, and his 7 grandsons, Justin, Austin, Tyler, Dale Jr. Logan, Dylan & Landon. He also leaves three sisters, Debra St. John of NY, Joanne Yansak and her husband Steven of NY, and Angela Ali of FL, a brother, Robert John Burke and his wife Peggy of Pittsfield, his niece, Heather Foster, who was like a second daughter to him, and many other nieces and nephews. Mr. Burke as predeceased by his sisters, Penny Kukevitch and Kathy Murphy.

At Dave’s request, services were held privately by his family.

The Devanny-Condron Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the Burke family during this most difficult time.
