Deanna Joyce Del Gallo of Pittsfield died unexpectedly at home on November 18, 2021 after a long period of declining health.
Deanna graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1992. She received an Associate’s degree from Berkshire Community College and went on to study at Northeastern University.
Deanna worked in restaurant management for many years in Boston. In 2010, she moved in with her brother, Paul, and his two young children, Marc and Maggie, whom she helped raise for years. She returned to Pittsfield to care for her father, Rinaldo Del Gallo Jr., and then her mother, Joyce Allen Del Gallo, seeing them through the last years of their lives. She assisted her father at home in his waning years of dementia and her mother as walking became more difficult.
Deanna was kind to all she knew, family and friends. She was always thoughtful of others, and had a great memory, able to recount any family tale to her nieces and nephews. She was a wonderful listener and the family photographer, historian, and communication center.
Deanna was a lifelong Red Sox fanatic, who also loved to travel. She loved Zion's Lutheran Church; it was the place that kept her grounded from her early years to days before her death. Deanna understood how to “stop and smell the roses''; she could see beauty that the ordinary observer missed. She met everyone with a bouquet of praise, humility, and her wonderful smile. She is survived by her brothers Rinaldo Del Gallo III Esq of Pittsfield, MA, Walter A. Del Gallo MD (wife Gigi Perez Del Gallo), and Paul M. Del Gallo of Boston, MA; and seven nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father: Rinaldo Del Gallo Jr., and mother: Joyce Allen Del Gallo.
A Celebration of Life for Deanna will be held at Zion’s Lutheran Church of Pittsfield, 74 First Street, Pittsfield, MA on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. The service will be available via live stream through the Church website at zionlutheranpittsfield.org In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Deanna's honor to Zion Lutheran Church.
