Mr. Edward R. Reynolds, age 92, a life-long resident of Pittsfield, died Thursday Feb. 28th at the Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility after a brief illness. He was born in Pittsfield, Dec. 17, 1926, the son of the late Clifford Francis and Laura H. (Curry) Reynolds. Educated in the local schools, he was a 1945 graduate of Pittsfield High School where he lettered in Track. Mr. Reynolds retired in 1988 as a custodian at the Berkshire County Court Complex following 20 years of service.
A US Navy veteran of WW II, Ed was a Seaman 1st Class and upon his discharge in Aug. of 1946, was awarded the WW II Victory Medal.
A member of the Rainbow Men's Club, he was a member of the Pittsfield VFW, Post # 448.
Ed participated in the annual veterans' efforts to decorate the graves of fallen veterans prior to each Memorial Day. He especially enjoyed the opportunity to visit the Berkshire Athenaeum to read and stay informed on a daily basis.
He is survived by his son, Mark E. Reynolds and his wife, Karen of Pittsfield, his two daughters, Kimberly M. Reynolds, of Boston, MA, and Dawn A. Peterson of Gulf Shore, AL, 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. His brother, Clifford Reynolds, predeceased him.
Reynolds, Edward R. age 92, died Thursday Feb. 28th. The Family will receive friends Monday morning beginning at 10:00 at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will take place in the family lot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Athenaeum, in care of the funeral home.
