Tribute

Elizabeth “Betty” Harmon, age 93, passed away peacefully Friday, December 9, 2022 at the Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by her family. 

Born on November 30, 1929, Betty was the daughter of the late John and Mary O’Brien. 

Betty was a 1947 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School and went on to earn her teaching degree from Our Lady of the Elms College in 1951. Mrs. Harmon taught second grade at Egremont School and was a substitute teacher in the Pittsfield Public School System. Later on Betty was employed at Crescent Creamery, a family owned business started by her father, where she worked with her brother Jack for many years. 

She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, friends and church. Betty was a lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Parish where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, CCD teacher and volunteer at countless church functions.  

She was predeceased by her husband Thomas J. Harmon, whom she married on August 1, 1951 at Sacred Heart. Tommy passed away in 2005.

Betty is survived by her children, Beth Harmon,  Paul Harmon and his fiancé Angela Damico along with David and his wife Kathy Price Harmon, 8 grandchildren, Thomas (TJ), Mike, Ryan, Shaun, Patrick and Mathew Harmon, Kaitlyn Boudreau and Nick Foley, and 6 great grandchildren. She also leaves her brother David O’Brien and his wife Joanne along with her sister-in-law Patricia O’Brien, many loving nieces, nephews and countless friends she held so dear. In addition to her husband, Betty was predeceased by her brother John “Jack” O’Brien, her sister Mary Therese “Reese” Lauder and her brother-in-law Donald Lauder. 

SERVICES: Friends are invited to gather with the family at Sacred Heart Church on THURSDAY, December 15th beginning at 10am with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to begin at 11am celebrated by Rev. Steven G. Montesanti. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
