Francis Benjamin Wisnowski
July 5, 1938 ~ November 20, 2023 (age 85) 85 Years Old
Francis Benjamin "Frank" Wisnowski, age 85, of Pittsfield died Monday, November 20, 2023 at Mount Carmel Care Center after a long period of declining health.
Born in Uxbridge, MA on July 5, 1938, Frank was one of two sons of the late Benjamin and Genevive (Kozacko) Wisnowski. He was educated in the local schools and was a 1956 graduate of Uxbridge High School. He then went on to earn his bachelor's degree from WPI. He moved to Pittsfield shortly after graduation and worked as an electrical engineer for General Electric Company for over 30 years.
Frank married the former Virginia "Ginger" Gallagher on June 1, 1963. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.
Frank loved to walk. He spent his entire local career walking to work every day. He was a brilliant man and found enjoyment in learning. He would often visit the library and spent much time reading science books and magazines. He also enjoyed playing card games such as Cribbage and Solitaire.
He was a gentle soul and loved his family deeply. He was a man of great faith and was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church. In the last few years he shared the phrase "there ya go!" countless times and made his family smile every time.
In addition to his beloved wife, Frank is survived by his daughter and her husband, Kathy and Bob Mazzeo of Cheshire, his brother Thomas Wisnowski and friend Patty of Virginia and many other cherished family members.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the care team Wingate at Melbourne Place where he had lived for about 5 years and the care team at Mount Carmel where Frank had lived for the last year and a half.
Friends are invited to join with the family on Monday, November 27th from 1-2 pm with a funeral home prayer service to follow beginning at 2pm led by Quentin Chin, Spiritual Counselor with Hospice Care in the Berkshires.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Frank may be made payable to "Wingate at Melbourne Place" or "Mt. Carmel Activities Fund" and mailed to the funeral home at 40 Maplewood Ave. Pittsfield, MA 01201
