Pittsfield- Francis J. “Frank” Procopio Jr., 72, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017 surrounded by his family at the Springside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness. 

Born on January 30, 1945 in Pittsfield, he was a son of Frank Procopio and the late Ruth Daugherty Procopio.  Frank was a graduate of Pittsfield High School Class of 1962, and later followed in the family trade as a mechanic.  He was the proprietor of Procopio Bros Garage and manager of Suddeth Automotive in Columbia, S.C. where he resided for 15 years before returning to Massachusetts in 2016.  As a young man, Frank’s hobbies included basketball, bowling, and he raced cars at the Lebanon Valley Speedway, and as he got older he learned his love of gardening, cooking, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan, something his friends in South Carolina enjoyed giving him trouble about.

Frank leaves behind his 3 daughters and their spouses; Lisa Richman and her husband Mark of Pittsfield, Kristen Henrichon and her husband Chris of Huntington, and Rebecca Johnson and her husband A.J. of Dalton. He also leaves his five grandchildren: Elisabeth, Nicholas, Olivia, Alexandra and Caroline, his brother Henry Procopio and wife Judy of Pittsfield, his sister Diane Deming of CT, his father Frank J Procopio of Pittsfield, his former wife of 17 years, Sandra Procopio of Pittsfield, and his nephew,  many nieces, and friends who will miss Frank dearly. He was predeceased by his mother Ruth, his brother-in-law Thomas Deming, and his partner Karen Winterkorn, with whom he made his home with in South Carolina.

Services were private for the family.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in memory of Mr. Procopio to Hospice of Western and Central MA, in care of the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home.
