Gail Susan (McCumber) Peck

Gail Susan (McCumber) Peck, age 52, of Pittsfield, MA died Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility after a long illness.

Gail was born in Pittsfield on April 9, 1967, a daughter of Shirley (Losty) Vickery and the late Barry McCumber. Raised in New Lebanon, NY, Gail was educated in the local schools and was a graduate of New Lebanon High School. She then went on to earn her Associate’s Degree from Hudson Valley Community College.

A generous and caring woman, Gail used her compassion towards others in her professional life. She worked for over 25 years as a CNA and worked proudly alongside many of the individuals who took care of her over the last two years at Mt. Greylock.

Gail’s family would like to recognize her Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility Family. They took the best care of her and the support and love they gave her went above and beyond anything her family could have asked for.

Gail was a terrific mother and she loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and reading. Gail was also devoted to her faith and was a member of the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church for the last 5 years. Before that, she was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Pittsfield for many years. Gail always looked forward to the annual WELS Labor Day Retreat, but unfortunately was not able to attend this year.

Gail married George Peck on April 13, 2002. George passed away suddenly on November 23, 2018.

Gail is survived by her two children, Samantha Sperlonga of Belchertown, MA and Alexander Peck of Elizabethtown, TN, her mother, Shirley Vickery of Dewitt, NY and her sisters, April Myers and her husband Oz of Chittenango, NY, and Nakoma Love and her husband Henrik Bo Jensen of Denmark.

She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and many friends that will miss her dearly.

Besides her husband, Gail was predeceased by her father and her sister, Michele Brown, who died September 3rd of this year. Gail and Shelly were very close, and with Gail's diagnosis, Shelly took wonderful care of her. 

SERVICES: Visitation will be FRIDAY, October 11th  from 10-11AM at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave. Pittsfield, MA with a funeral service to begin at 11AM with Pastor Ehlers of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at Cemetery of the Evergreens in New Lebanon, NY.
