Heather Sawyer

Heather Sawyer, age 47, of Pittsfield died unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.

Born in Watertown, NY on December 12, 1975, Heather was a daughter of the late Cheryl Easton. She was raised in Watertown and attended the local schools there. When she turned 18, she moved to Pittsfield to be with her sister Danielle.

Heather was a sensitive, kind and generous person, finding great fulfillment in helping others. She spent much of her life as a home health aide and would often go out of her way to ensure her patients had everything they needed.

She was the definition of “Mother Hen” and would often give a home to any one, or any animal that needed it. She loved her dogs, Amigo who is a Chihuahua she adopted from one of her clients who was moved into long-term care, Ava who is a German Shepard and Maliki, a Pitbull mix.

Heather loved music and was very artistic. She enjoyed coloring her hair all colors of the rainbow and expressing herself though fashion and makeup. 

She loved summertime and being out in nature. She would often go to the lake or for a hike at Wahconah Falls, and spent as much time with her daughter Sky as she could.

Heather’s family will miss everything about her and swore she made the world’s best baked chicken. She could feed a crowd if the crowd needed to be fed. She could go out of her way to make sure someone else was going to be alright. She never put herself first and was the least selfish person you could ever know.

She is survived by her daughter Sky Lynn Sawyer, or “Big Mama” as Heather always called her, and her fiancé David J. DeForest, with whom she has spent the last 6 wonderful years with.

Heather was predeceased by her mother when she was just a little girl, and also lost her sister and best friend Danielle Sawyer in 2022.

SERVCIES: Friends are invited to join with Heather’s family for a Celebration of Life on THURSDAY, May 4, 2023 from 3-5pm at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Heather’s family asks that donations be made through the funeral home to help with funeral expenses. Donations may be made over the phone or by making an appointment to come in person by calling (413)445-5988.
