Helen (Cullen) Decelles

Pittsfield- Helen Cullen Decelles, age 101, died Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility. 
Helen was born in Pittsfield on August 21, 1916 the daughter of the late James F. and Kathryn Donovan Cullen. She attended the local elementary schools and was a 1934 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School. Helen was employed in her early years at General Electric Co. and she later worked at the local Welfare Office. Before her retirement, Mrs. Decelles worked for many years as a cafeteria worker at Pittsfield High School. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, and loved traveling and camping. Helen was also an avid reader, and she enjoyed handcrafts, ceramics and painting. 
She and her husband, Ralph L. Decelles, were married on April 10, 1939. Ralph died October 22, 1998.
Helen is survived by her two sons, Ralph E. Decelles and his wife Lucille of Lenox, and Paul A. Decelles and his wife Cecelia of Raymond, NH. She also leaves her 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Rule, Bertha Barry, Catherine Meade, Mildred Snyder, Betty Snyder, and Bernice Kunce, her brother, James Cullen, and her great-grandson, Daniel Smith.
SERVICES: Calling Hours for Helen will be Wednesday, April 4th from 9:30am-10:30AM at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11AM at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Christopher Fedoryshyn, administrator, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. 
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church, in care of the Funeral Home.
