Ilene L. (Simon) Warren

Mrs. Ilene L. Simon Warren, age 74, of 66 Holmes Rd. Pittsfield, died Friday suddenly at the Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield, June 30, 1946, she was the daughter of the late George and Minerva Sookey Simon. Educated in the local schools, Ilene was a 1964 graduate of St. Joseph High School.  Primarily a homemaker, her greatest joy was raising her children and becoming the proud Sitto to her 6 grandchildren; Chloe, Keira, T, Jenna, Avery, and Violet.

Anyone who knew Ilene described her as completely selfless. A communicant of Sacred Heart church, she was a true matriarch. She showered those around her with unconditional love and acceptance. Her most treasured times were undoubtedly, having family and friends gather in her home. Her way of welcoming all was to keep them well fed. 

No request was too great, especially to her grandchildren. Her schedule and that of her husband Paul, centered around the grandchildren’s school and athletic events, including horseback riding, swimming, softball and volleyball to name a few. Christmas, her favorite holiday, was another chance for her to share her generosity and thoughtfulness. Christmas at her home began with decorating from floor to ceiling, including a prized North Pole Village which she delighted in sharing with her grandchildren. The annual family summer vacation in York Beach, Maine was always the highlight of her year and comprised her most cherished memories, including numerous chocolate walnut ice cream cones at Brown’s.

A fan of the Boston sports teams, she enjoyed relaxing while watching Red Sox and Celtics games. She and Paul made many memorable trips to the casino with her sister, Susi and brother-in-law, Pokey.

She was devoted to her husband of 53 years, Paul Warren, who she married August 26, 1967. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Paul Warren, Jr. and his wife, Suzanne, of Dalton, her two daughters, Pamela Codey and her husband, Patrick of Pittsfield, and Kristi Vale-Cruz and her husband, Dustin, of Pittsfield, her 3 sisters, Lorraine Moresi, Lois Henault and Susi Sykes and her husband, John Sykes, all of Pittsfield. Her greatest joy was being Sitto to her grandchildren, Chloe Warren, Keira Codey, Ty Warren, Jenna Codey, Avery Vale-Cruz, and Violet Vale-Cruz.

You are all welcome to attend a Liturgy of Christian Burial which will be celebrated WEDNESDAY, Feb. 10th at 10 AM  Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. A. Peter Gregory, a dear family friend and Chaplin at Soldier On. Burial will take place in Pittsfield Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME
