Mrs. Irene Jaworowska Babis, age 66, of 306 Cheshire Rd. Pittsfield, died Tuesday, Feb. 2nd at her home following a long illness. She was born in Wroclaw,Poland and attended the local schools there. She and her hsuibamd, Zenon Babis, came here to make their home in 1974. Primarily a homemaker, she took great pride in tending to her home, her flowers and her garden.
A communicant of the former Holy Family Church here, she later attended St. Stanislaus Church Kostka, which comprises one of the churches in Adams which comprises St. John Paul II Parish there.
She and her husband of 43 years, Zenon, were married Dec. 3, 1977 in Holy Family Church. An herbalist, Irene enjoyed raising herbs and fruits. Using the herbalism, she could make ‘everything under the Sun,. Moon and Stars ‘ and very much enjoyed making her own wine from the fruits she cultivated.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Margaret C. Gedek of Bristol, Ct. and her grandson Matthew Z. Gedek of Bristol, Ct.
Funeral services will be held SATURDAY morning at 11:00 am at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Stephen G. Montesanti, pastor of St. John Paul II in Adams, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the BMC Cancer Center in care of the funeral home.
