James Perby

Tribute

Mr. James (Jim) Perby, age 67, formally from Lawrence, LI, and 360 W. Housatonic St. Pittsfield, died Saturday evening at the Berkshire Medical Center following a long illness. He was born June 19, 1952, the son of Margaret June Brown Perby and the late George Perby. Educated in the local schools, he continued his education in the environmental science program at Holyoke Community College. Jim worked performing Perk Testing throughout Western Mass for many years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal, as well as the National Defense medal. In later years, Jim would often say…"he was ready to serve again anywhere and he loved this country but the government scared him.”

Jim enjoyed hunting, target shooting, gardening and caring for his many dogs over the years. 

In addition to his Mother, June,  of Long Beach, NY, Jim is survived by his sister, Ruth Cardace of Valley Stream, NY and his niece, Jill Cardace Eayres and nephew, Christopher Cardace (Adrianna), two great nieces, Zoe Eayres and Lucia Cardace and his great nephew, Logan Eayres. He is also survived by his former wife, Vicky Leighton Perby of Pittsfield.

Memorial services will be held Friday, June 19th at 1:00 PM at the Soldier On campus at 360 W. Housatonic St. Pittsfield, MA 01201 with inurnment to follow. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Soldier On, through the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home, which has been entrusted with his care.
