Janet M. (Bourassa) Perachi, age 78, of Pittsfield, died Tuesday, November 2, 2021, while surrounded by loving family and friends at Berkshire Medical Center.
Janet was born in Pittsfield on June 16, 1943, the daughter of the late Gerald and Eva Gurski Bourassa. She was educated in the Dalton school system and was a 1961 graduate of Dalton High School.
Upon graduation, Janet worked as a bank teller for Berkshire County Savings Bank, before moving on to work for both Catholic Charities and the Massachusetts Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC). For over 20 years, Janet was a valued member of the Catholic Charities/MSPCC office staff, and prior to her retirement, she worked for 7 years as an administrative assistant for Austen Riggs Center.
Janet and her husband Paul greatly enjoyed travelling, and went on many trips together over the years. They visited Italy multiple times, and enjoyed their annual visits to Marco Island, and New Smyrna Beach, both in Florida. One of her favorite things to do on vacation was to relax with family and friends on the beach.
A great mom and even better grandma to her 5 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter, Janet found great joy in attending their events, especially their numerous athletic contests.
Janet's husband of 56 years, Paul E. Perachi, passed away September 9, 2021. Janet is survived by her son, Matthew Perachi and his wife Stacie Jordan Perachi of Washington, CT, her daughter, Sandra Perachi Taylor and her husband Keith Taylor of Pittsfield, five grandchildren, Kyle and Evan Taylor and Dominic, Michael and Marissa Perachi, and her great granddaughter, Luna Taylor. She also leaves her brother, Kenneth Bourassa of Corpus Christi, TX, many nieces and nephews, and her dear friends, Al and Joanne Belanger of Pittsfield, and Phil and Mary Martino of Lee.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Janet was predeceased by her infant daughter, Paula Perachi.
SERVICES: Friends are invited to join with the family for calling hours on SATURDAY, November 6, 2021 from 9-10:30AM at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery at 10:45AM with Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor of Sacred Heart Church, officiating. All who are attending are asked to please wear a mask and remain socially distanced.
