Mr. Jeffrey E. Bercury, age 39, a Pittsfield native, of 25 Dracut St. Dorchester, MA died Friday, Oct. 5th after a short illness. Born in Pittsfield, Aug. 2, 1979, he was the son of Charles A. and Claire L. Ingram Bercury. Educated in the local schools, he was a 1996 graduate of Pittsfield High School. While there, he lettered in Cross Country Skiing and was a member of the Math Club.
Continuing his education, Jeff was awarded his baccalaureate degree in English from the University of Mass.-Amherst in May of 2000. Currently, Jeff was employed as a Technical Advisor for the NASDAQ for the past 9 years. Jeff developed his strong work ethic under the tutelage of his late uncle, Ned Bercury who taught him at the age of 14, the ins and outs of the lawn care business in and around Pittsfield.
Following his graduation from UMass, his first full time position was as the Activities Director at Melbourne Place. A job he loved as he introduced many different events, including a resident’s only Cinco de Mayo party. Following this position, he became employed and enjoyed working at the former Talent Fusion Agency in Pittsfield. Upon its closing, he chose to relocate in order to seek employment in Boston in 2009.
Jeff developed and cherished a large circle of friends from a very early age. Those life long friendships continue even today. While a resident of Pittsfield, he attended Sacred Heart Church.
In addition to his parents, Charlie and Claire, of Pittsfield, Jeff is also survived by his brother, Scott D. and his wife, Katie McKiernan Bercury and their 3 children, Desmond, Russell and Daniel Bercury of Upton, MA. Jeff also leaves his uncles and aunts, William and Julie Ingram of Lee and Barbara and Brian Bradway of Pittsfield, Donna Bercury of Dalton, Eleanore Bercury of Pittsfield, and a great uncle and great aunt, Peter and Henrietta Davenport of Chester, MA as well as his many cousins.
Bercury, Jeffrey E., age 39, a Pittsfield native, died Oct. 5th after a short illness. Calling hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be WEDNESAY,Oct. 10th from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be THURSDAY morning at 10:15 am from the funeral home followed with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Michael Bernier, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made either St. Baldrick’s Children Cancer Foundation or to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.
