John A. Duvall

June 15, 1936 ~ June 4, 2022 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Tribute

Mr. John A. Duvall, Sr., age 85, went to be with the Lord in Heaven on Saturday, June 4, 2022.

Born in Washington, DC on June 15, 1936, Mr. Duvall was one of 5 children to the late George Perry Duvall and Marie Lillian (Gaylor) Duvall. He was raised in Maryland and honorably served in the US Navy following his High School graduation. He served as a Medic in the Navy and was honorably discharged after 4 years.

John was a man of incredible faith and brought his Biblical teachings of Jesus Christ to those around him. He was a graduate of The Bible Speaks in Lenox, MA and served as an Associate Pastor at many churches. He also spent 22 cumulative years as a supervisor for dormitory caregivers at Valleyhead School for girls in Lenox.

Mr. Duvall married the former Nicoletta Kalamaras on September 22, 1958. He lovingly referred to her as his “Agape Mou” and was the embodiment of a caring and doting husband. This coming September they would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary and they were blessed to spend their lives together as best friends, man and wife, and everything in between.

Mr. and Mrs. Duvall moved many times in their many years together. They lived in Maryland, Perthamboy, NJ, North Carolina, Lee, Massachusetts, Florida and then Pittsfield, MA. They enjoyed their many moves and found each new place to be an adventure they could enjoy together.

John was a brilliant man. He was fluent in Greek, the first language of his wife and her family, and was taught personally by his beloved mother-in-law Grace. He held countless Bible studies over the years and loved to speak to others about Jesus. He was also an avid hiker, biker and jogger, and a great father and Papou to so many.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his daughter, Marie Simmons and her husband Kelly Simmons, his son John Duvall, Jr. and his husband Joe Santelli, and his grandchildren, William and Jennifer Simmons and Jonathan and Alixzavior Santelli. He also leaves his great grandchildren, Kayla, Mason, Miles, Tiffany, Matthew and Connor, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, George, Richard and Eugene Duvall and his sister Marion Adams. .
