Joseph R. Fillio

Mr. Joseph R. Fillio, age 39, of Pittsfield, passed away at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA on December 1, 2021.

He was born March 5, 1982, the son of the late James and Princess Fillio. He was a graduate of Taconic High School, Class of 2000. Through the years, Joe had various jobs. He started working in high school at Champs at the Berkshire Mall. He then was employed as a laborer for Berkshire Tree Service.

Joe was an elite member of the Taconic High School Basketball team and he began his hoop varsity career as a sophomore. Joe was a proud member of the Berkshire County High School 1,000 Point Hoop Club. He scored his 1000 points on January 26, 2000 with a win against St. Joe Crusaders. He ended his career with 1,178 points. Joe made All Northern Berkshire twice and was the C0-MVP in 2000. According to his coaches, he was an extraordinary athlete that had so much potential, and he helped Taconic go to 3 Western Mass Tournaments. 

Upon graduating, he attended Holyoke Community College and for many years played in the Al Bianchi Men’s Basketball League on Sunday morning’s in the Berkshires.  He was a proud member of the Amart Team, who he helped win many championships through the years.

Joe is going to be heavily missed by his family and friends. He always had something funny to say and could make anyone laugh. He was always the happiest when he was on the basketball court.

He is survived by his sister, Jennifer Rose Fillio and her two children, Riley and Jesse Jr., all of Pittsfield. He also leaves his grandmother, Geraldine Bona, and his aunts Geri Hart and her husband Robert, and Georgia Biggart, all of New Hampshire, his cousins, Lucas and Diana Fillio and their daughter, Lilli of Pittsfield, his other cousin Michael Fillio and his wife Briana and their daughter Nyla in Texas.

**CALLING HOURS WILL BE HELD SUNDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2021 FROM 1:00 PM TO 3:00 PM at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Avenue, Pittsfield, MA.** 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joe may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Berkshire County.
