Josephine Gifty Ampah-Behanzin

It is with great sadness that Josephine Gifty Ampah-Behanzin was suddenly called to Heaven on Wednesday, November 17th, 2021.
Josephine was born on December 1st, 1965, in Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) and completed her early education at Collège Moderne de Grand Bassam and Lycée Technique d’Abidjan. She later earned a college degree in Business Administration and started her career as an Executive Assistant in Grand Bassam - Côte d'Ivoire. She was a go-getter and chose to continue her life by taking a leap of faith and moving to Pittsfield, Massachusetts in the United States.
She was always determined and not afraid of any challenges. Indeed, she had to start again, from scratch, in a different field, first in the food sector at Edgecom; then in the healthcare sector at now DDS, as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Her thirst for knowledge and eagerness to succeed led her to continue her education in nursing while still working. Her last academic challenge was pursuing a degree as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Josephine’s energy had no limits as she shared her time between her family, the community, the business, her work, and her studies. She sourced her happiness from cooking, joyous gatherings and spread her smile, words of wisdom and comfort to all she met. She had a generous heart, and friends and family could always rely on her.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Goundo Pierre Ambroise Robert Behanzin, her two children Gifty Marina Kelly Behanzin and Peter Jr. Mawuvi Kobenan Behanzin, her sisters and brothers Amissah including Clémence in the United States, her sisters and brothers Ampah, her nieces, her nephews, and her godchildren.
Calling/Viewing hours will be held from 9am-11:30am on Saturday, December 4th at Devanny-Condron Funeral Home in Pittsfield, MA. It will be followed by a Church Service from 12pm-1:30pm at First United Methodist Church at 55 Fenn Street, Pittsfield, MA. Condolences can be presented after service at 41 Sampson Parkway, Pittsfield, MA.
