Mrs. Josephine H. Hart DeLucas, age 93, of Pittsfield died Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Springside Nursing Home.
Born in Pittsfield on Mary 30, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Helen Houghtling Hart. She attended the local schools and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mrs. DeLucas began her working career as a young woman in the mail room at General Electric Company and later worked as a mail clerk for Berkshire Life. In addition to raising her family, she worked for many years as a nurses aide for Berkshire Nursing Home and as a home health aide for the elderly of the community with the Visiting Nurses Association.
She was a longtime communicant of the former St. Francis Church and was a talented artist, mostly working in pencil and ink sketching, as well as painting. Josephine also enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Italian-American League, the Women’s League and the Senior League, where she was the recipient of many trophies.
Mrs. DeLucas is survived by her daughter Darlene Thornburg and her husband Mark of Pittsfield, two sons, Anthony and Mark Morell, and her step-daughter Jacqueline Townsend of Groton, CT. She also leaves her grandchildren, Michael (Priscilla) Reynolds, Gina Morell and Melissa Morell, her great grandchildren, Kayla Marie, Misciel and Brady Reynolds and her niece Kathy Hart of Cheshire.
Josephine was predeceased by her husband, Frank L. DeLucas, in 1993, her son Patrick Morell in 2019 and her brother Henry Hart.
Visitation for Mrs. DeLucas will be at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home in Pittsfield on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 9-10AM with a funeral home prayer service to begin at 10AM led by her nephew, Deacon George Morrell. Burial will be private for the family at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
