Josephine K. (Florssiac) Kupiec

PITTSFIELD-        Mrs. Josephine K. (Flossiac) Kupiec, age 91, died Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Springside Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a short illness.

Josephine was born in Pittsfield on April 29, 1926, a daughter of the late Anthony and Lucia (Menard) Flossiac. She was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Josephine proudly worked for 25 years at General Electric Company as a Component Assembler before her retirement. She was also a member of the Berkshire Benevolent Association for the Blind, and greatly enjoyed attending the meetings.

Josephine adored her grandchildren, and cherished the time she spent traveling to visit her family. She also enjoyed the many trips she took with her friends, especially the time they spent in Hawaii, Hampton Beach and visiting Foxwoods. She will be remembered for her love of fruit picking, regardless of the season, and how she would encourage everyone around her to join in the harvest. Mrs. Kupiec also loved cooking for people, particularly making her “famous apple pie,” and loved to make them smile. She was a kind, caring and devoted woman, and was a wonderful mom to her two sons.

Mrs. Kupiec was a long-time communicant of the former Holy Family Church before their closure.

Josephine married Mr. Casimer Kupiec on July 22, 1950 at Holy Family Church. They celebrated 54 wonderful years of marriage together before his passing on August 7, 2004.

Josephine is survived by her two sons, Mark Kupiec and his wife Marcia of Methuen, and Chris Kupiec of South Burlington, VT.  She also leaves her three grandsons, Keith Kupiec and his wife Jennifer of Plaistow, NH, Steven Kupiec of Methuen, and Travis Kupiec of South Burlington, VT, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Josephine was predeceased by her sister, Irene (Flossiac) Bond.

The Kupiec family wishes to extend a sincere thanks to the outstanding staff of Hospice Care in the Berkshires, especially nurse Kristen, as well as the care team at Springside Nursing and Rehab Center for the level of care, compassion and respect that has been shown to their mom over the last six months.

SERVICES:  Calling Hours for Josephine will be FRIDAY, April 27th from 4-7PM at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated SATURDAY, April 28th at 9AM at St. Charles Church with Rev. Michael Wood, administrator, officiating. Kindly meet directly at the church. Burial will follow with Mr. Kupiec at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires, in care of the Funeral Home.
