PITTSFIELD – Mrs. June Marie (Huggins) Bottume, 71, of 59 Kenwood Street passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, September 7th, after her long courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Pittsfield on August 24, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ann (Overbaugh) Huggins.  June was an active member of the Imperials Junior Drum & Bugle Corps.  She participated in the Junior Achievement Program prior to graduating Pro Merito from Pittsfield High School in 1968.

Mrs. Bottume was employed by The Berkshire Eagle, Berkshire Life, Higgins Employment and General Electric in administrative capacities prior to joining the City of Pittsfield.  Until her retirement in 2010, June worked for each of the Water Department, the Health Department and the Board of Assessors during her 25 years of dedicated public service.  June was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well as watching movies with her husband.  She also cherished spending time with her many friends.

She and her husband of nearly 50 years, Robert T. Bottume, Sr., were married on October 2, 1971 at the former St. Mary the Morningstar Church.  In addition to her beloved husband and devoted caretaker, she is survived by her son, Robert Bottume, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Dalton, MA; and her daughter, Allison Crespo and her husband Joe of Pittsfield, MA.  She also leaves her four precious grandchildren, Matthew McLaughlin, Kimberleigh Dorsett, Jaimie Henderson and Nadasia Crespo.  She is also survived by her brother, Robert Huggins and his wife Tina, and her sister-in-law, Robin Love, all of Pittsfield, MA and several nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be Monday, September 13th from 4-7PM at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home in Pittsfield. A Memorial Service will be Tuesday, September 14th at 11AM at  the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to: “American Cancer Society” and mailed to the funeral home at 40 Maplewood Ave, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
