Pittsfield – Karen (Gallagher) Brassard, 68, died Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the Berkshire Medical Center after a sudden illness.
Karen was born October 21, 1949 in Pittsfield, a daughter of the late Rita Casey Gallagher, and she was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School. Karen can be remembered as being a wonderful mother while raising her two children and an overall hardworking woman. She worked for many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the former St. Luke’s Hospital and then at the Berkshire Medical Center. She later advanced to Staffing Coordinator at BMC, a position Karen excelled in for 12 years. After her retirement, Karen and those she worked with started their “Tuesday Coffee Group”, a tradition she so looked forward to every week. Karen also loved being a grandmother to her two granddaughters, and enjoyed the trips she took to visit her sister in Florida.
Karen is survived by her daughter, Tracy Rod of Cheshire, and her two granddaughters, Kelsey and Caelin Rod. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Gallagher of Florida, her dear friend Pam Irish, and many other friends who will miss her dearly. Karen was predeceased by her son, Shaun P. Brassard, on July 26, 2014.
SERVICES: Calling Hours will be Sunday, March 4th from 4-6PM with a Celebration of Karen’s Life beginning at 6PM at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be private at a later date.
Should friends desire, memorial contribution’s in Karen’s memory may be made to: the American Diabetes Association or the Crohn’s Foundation, both in care of the Funeral Home.
