Kathleen Sullivan, beloved mother, passed Sunday, October 24, 2021 at her home in San Jose, CA. She was 81 years old.
Kathy was born Kathleen Francis Bell in 1940 in Bronxville New York to parents Carmella and James Bell.
At an early age Kathy was active Dancing on Broadway and Catalog Modeling for Macy's. She found her calling in nursing, graduating from New York foundling hospital in 1961 with a degree in Nursing, specializing in Pediatrics. While working at Lawrence hospital, she met Sean Sullivan. They married in 1962.
She continued her nursing at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and after moving to California in 1981 she began working with physically and mentally handicapped children and adults. She started at a private facility, Casa Care and then took a position with the State of California at Agnews Development Center. She retired after 19 years of service in 2009.
Kathy has always had a love of music. It could be the 50's, 60's etc., live bands she booked at the Israel Bissell Inn, concerts like the Eagles or listening to her son James's band play. She was artistic, finding peace in drawing, coloring or playing the piano.
She is survived by her children, James, Walter Bryan, Colleen, Maurya and predeceased by her son Sean. In addition to her children, Kathy is survived by her grandchildren Shawna, Daniel, Abigail, Justin, Ryan and Britany, Daughter-in-law Kristine, Nieces Kelly and Jessica and other extended family members.
She was predeceased by her parents Carmella and James, her sisters Maryann and Rosemary, nephew Vincent and niece Maryann.
SERVICES: Graveside services will be Friday, November 5, 2021 at 12:00pm at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Old Dalton Road, Hinsdale, MA led by Rev. A. Peter Gregory. The Celebration of Life will follow the graveside services at the Dalton VFW - 366 E Housatonic St. Dalton, MA
Kathy went peacefully surrounded by her loving family. In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's / Dementia Association in memoriam of Kathleen F Sullivan.
