Mr. Kenneth L. Hinckley, Jr. age 87, of 379 East St Providence Court Pittsfield, died Saturday evening at the Hillcrest Commons after a brief illness. He was born in Adams, MA, Nov. 12, 1930, the son of the late Kenneth L. and Ruth Whitmarsh Hinckley, Sr..Upon coming to Pittsfield as a young boy, attended the local schools. Mr. Hinckley was employed at the former General Electric Co. Power Transformer Dept. as a winder in the tank shop. Ken retired in 1985 with over 30 years of service.
He moved to Monroe, N.C. upon his retirement and returned to make his home in Pittsfield in 2010.
An avid reader, he especially enjoyed books on the history of the Civil War and its many battles. Ken also enjoyed hunting in the Berkshires.
He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia A. Phillips ( Kevin ) of Palm Bay, Fl., his 4 sons, Kenneth L. Hinckley III ( Debra) , George T. Hinckley ( Lynda), David L. Hinckley ( Lori ) and Scott F. Hinckley, ( Cindy ), all of Pittsfield, and his brother, Eugene Hinckley of Cincinnati, Ohio, his 12 grandchildren and his 11 great-grandchildren. Ken also leaves his long time friend, Marge Pravia.
Hinckley, Kenneth L., Jr., age 87, of Pittsfield, died Dec. 23rd. Calling Hours at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home will be held Thursday morning beginning at 9:00 am with funeral services to follow beginning at 10 am. Burial will take place in the Cheshire Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Elder Services in care of the funeral home.
