Mrs. Lillian M. Weatherbey Smith, age 94, of 120 Onota St. Pitttsfield, died early Sunday morning after a long illness. She was born in Pittsfield, Feb. 1,1923, the daughter of Wylie R. and Lulu M. Poucher  Weatherbey. Educated in the local schools, she attended Pittsfield High School. Primarily a homemaker, she was employed at the former General Electric Co. during  the W.W. II. years.

Lillian loved to maintain her own  home on Union St.  as well as care for her animals, especially her cats. She enjoyed walking downtown to the shops on North St. and lunching out in several of the local diners and restaurants. An avid reader of murder mysteries, she loved to do cross word puzzles, and played cards. She enjoyed playing Dominos which she played up until last week. During her younger years, she enjoyed horseback riding as well as fishing the local lakes with her husband. More recently, she enjoyed day trips with her family and grandchildren.

Her husband, Grant M. Smith, who she married Aug. 1, 1942, died May 17, 2003.

She is survived by her two sons, Neil S. Smith and Bruce W. Smith, both of Pittsfield, her sister, Mary Clevenger of Pittsfield, 7 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren as well as her nephews and great nieces.

Her son, Michael  T. Smith died Jan. 27, 2008 and her brother, Charles Weatherbey, also predeceased her.

Graveside services for Mrs. Lillian M. Smith will be held THURSDAY morning at 11 am at the Pittsfield Cemetery in the family lot located in the West Fountain Lawn section with Elder James Law of the Church of the Latter Day Saints, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME which has been entrusted with her care.
