Louis Steven Brown

1954 – 2020 Lanesboro – Louis Brown 66, died Wednesday at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Pittsfield on March 22, 1954, the son of the late Raymond F. and Virginia Gai Brown, Sr. He was educated in Pittsfield schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1972. Lou began his working career at the Pittsfield Boys Club where he managed the Hockey Rink. He went on to drive a transit bus for the BRTA and then train as a Xerox service technician He went on to work at service and sales of professional equipment for Forbes Snyder Office Products and the for chemical companies such as ECOLab before retiring due to poor health.

Lou loved to laugh and had a famous sense of humor. He loved to read science fiction. He could fix or build nearly everything. He loved to cook and took wonderful care of his family and the procession of animals that shared his life.


Lou is survived by his wife of 43 years, Pamela, and a son Thomas Brown (Kimberlee Gero) and daughter Samantha Brown (Thomas Harrington); his granddaughter: Molly Harrington, his grandson Owen Harrington of Pittsfield; his sisters: Arleta (and Jerry) Fredrickson of South Royalton, VT, Wendy Hoosick of Pittsfield, and Valerie (and Leon) Mongue of Pittsfield and Kori Brown; his fbrothers: Joseph (and Kellie) Brown of Pittsfield, Allan (and Nancy) Brown of Pittsfield, Paul Brown of Fort Myers, FL, and Mark Brown of Dalton; numerous nieces and nephews; his Aunt Rita Maguire and her family of Oswego, NY; his sister and brother-in-law Carol and David Cohen of Pittsfield and his brother-in-law: Al Frambach of Dalton.

He was pre-deceased by his brothers Raymond Brown, Jr. in 2011 and David Brown in 2016. Lou wished for a celebration of his life. Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be no calling hours, but the family will hold a memorial/celebration at a later time.
