Pittsfield- Margaret Mary “Marg” Morrison, 65, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a recent illness.

Marg was born in Pittsfield a daughter of the late Timothy John Morrison Jr. and Mary (Maxwell) Morrison on February 18, 1952. She grew up in Dalton, attending St. Agnes School, and later attending St. Joseph High School, where she was a member of the class of 1970. Marg then went on to attend the former North Adams State College where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1974, and later earned her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She worked for 35 years as an elementary school teacher with the Central Berkshire Regional School District, spending a majority of her career as a first grade teacher at Craneville Elementary School. Marg was passionate about working with her students and all children. She was an advocate for reading and was a part of the Reading Recovery Program before her retirement in 2009. She was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph’s church, and was a member of the local Mahjong Club and more recently, participated in a book club with her friends. Marg loved basket weaving and dogs, especially her pups Reilly and Seamus. She also treasured her time spent on Cape Cod, and enjoyed her visits to the ocean.

Marg is survived by her sister, Ann Therrien-Tanner and her husband Wallace of Dalton, her nephew Shawn Therrien of Dalton, and her great nephew, and the light of her life, Timothy Therrien of Dalton. She is also survived by her best friend of over 60 years, Mary Lou Beaudin of Adams, her Godson, James Beaudin Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA, her stepsister Susan Vigeant of Dalton, and many close friends who will miss Marg dearly.

SERVICES: Morrison, Margaret Mary, 65, died August 20th. Calling Hours for Marg will be Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 4-7PM at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. The Celebration of her Life will continue Wednesday, August 23rd at 12:15pm from the funeral home followed with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 1PM at St. Joseph’s Church with the Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor, officiating. 

Marg's family would like to extend a most sincere thank you to both Hospice Care in the Berkshires and Home Instead for the superior care and compassion they showed to Marg over the last few months.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations in Marg’s memory may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society, in care of the Funeral Home.
