Mrs. Marie C. Sciola Barzousky, age 72, of 155 Draper Ave. Pittsfield, died November 24, 2023. Born in Pittsfield on March 9, 1951, she was the eldest daughter of the late Benedetto and Jennie Conti Sciola. Educated locally, Marie was a 1969 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Marie was first employed at the former Mohawk Beverage Co. on Tyler St. In 1969 she accepted a secretarial role at General Electric Co. Ordnance Systems where she remained until the birth of her children.
On her return to the workforce Marie was employed at the American Cancer Society of Western Mass, a role she enjoyed greatly and held for 24 1/2 years. She was successful in her work, rising to become Berkshire County's Community Executive Director and the local patient advocate for Breast Health at American Cancer Society of Western Mass.
Outside of work, Marie greatly enjoyed traveling, both nationally and internationally. She and her husband, Benny, (also known as Sonny) travelled to Alaska, the Panama Canal, and frequent locations in the Caribbean, most especially, Aruba. In addition, the couple spent more than 30 years enjoying their camp in Sandy Pond, NY on Lake Ontario (aka The Beach House) where they made many unforgettable memories with family and friends.
Marie loved to try new experiences and extended that same spirit of adventure to new cocktails and martinis. She loved playing cards and spending time with friends at music bingo. She loved, adored, and cherished her five grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Benjamin "Sonny" A. Barzousky, whom she married April 23, 1971.
In addition to her husband, she will be greatly missed by her son Steven D. Barzousky, (Karina), of Harleysville, PA, and her daughter, Kristine M. Barzousky of Walnutport, PA, her two brothers, Benedetto "Chick" Sciola (Sandy) of NC, and Michael Sciola of Pittsfield, her sister, Karen Corl (Richard) of Pittsfield, and her 5 grandchildren, Lily, Gabriel, Jaxyn, Arden and Jeremiah. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
