Marie Joan (Carnute) Civello Lambert

Marie Joan Lambert, age 88, a lifelong resident of Pittsfield passed away at Berkshire Medical Center on New Year’s Eve 2022.

Marie was born in Pittsfield on April 2, 1934, a daughter of the late Peter Anthony Carnute and Philomena (Canino) Carnute. She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1951 and worked for many years as a waitress at G.E.A.A. and later worked as secretary at General Electric Company.

A fantastic baker, Marie was especially known for her delicious apple pie, whoopee pies and famous Italian cookies. She enjoyed travelling and loved her trips to Hawaii and New Orleans. Marie ensured that everyone knew they were welcome in her home and she always looked for the best in other people. She loved kids and enjoyed opening her doors to many of her children’s friends over the years.

Marie is survived by her beloved children, Mark Allen Civello, Glenn Scott Civello (Laurie), and Kim Marie Louis (Brett Polly), all of Pittsfield, her two step-children, Susan Lambert of Boston and Maryann Barbour (Butch) of Pittsfield, and her grandchildren, Mark Civello Jr., Tony Calkins, Cody (Kayla), Chad (Morgan), and Cameron Civello, Dustin Louis, Jake (Julie), Matthew, Audrey Barbour and Kemet Lambert. She also leaves 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

Marie was blessed to have found love twice in her life and was predeceased by both husbands, Mr. Nicholas Civello whom she married November 21,1953 and passed away June 12, 1971 and Mr. William Lambert whom she married January 17, 1976 and passed away January 3, 1998. She was also predeceased by both of her siblings in 2022, Dolores MacFarlane and Peter Carnute.

SERVICES: Calling hours for family and close friends will be at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home on FRIDAY, January 6, 2023 from 10AM-12PM with a funeral home prayer service to begin at Noon. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marie’s memory may be made payable to “The Jimmy Fund of Berkshire County” and mailed to the funeral home at 40 Maplewood Ave. Pittsfield, MA 01201
