Mary R. (Caryofilles) Butler

Mrs. Mary R. Butler, age 83, of Pittsfield, died Friday, October 23, 2020 at her home.

She was born in Pittsfield, March 5, 1937, the daughter of the late Cleante and Mary Benson Caryofilles. Mary was a 1954 graduate of Berlin, NY High School. She was employed as a seamstress with the former Campus Girl factory and then later with Rice’s Silk Mill until her retirement. Mary and her late husband, Wesley, ran their family ceramic business for over 10 years.

An avid reader, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and other hand crafts. Mary enjoyed bingo, was a master at jig saw puzzles and her involvement with the Ralph Frio Center. Mary was known for her infectious laugh and smile. 

Her late husband of 48 years, Wesley A. Butler, died July 4, 2003

She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Wells and her granddaughters, Rebecca and Suzanna, all of Pittsfield, Michelle Fowler and her husband Bill, of Ashley Falls, MA and Weslia Wheeler and her husband, Ken of Pittsfield, her grandsons, Michael and Timothy Maslanka-Schmidt, her granddog Bocephus, her siblings, Cleante Caryofilles of Pittsfield, Francis Caryofilles of Troy, NY, and Alice Niles of Cheshire. Mary also leaves her many friends at Berkshire Town.

Private funeral services have been held.
