Mary E. Danford Teal, age 88, formerly of 193 Elberon Ave. Pittsfield, died Wednesday afternoon at the Springside Long Term Care Facility after a long illness. Born in Pittsfield, Sept. 9, 1928, she was one of six children born to the late Stanley C. and Della M. Rhodes Danford. She attended the schools in Pittsfield and was employed initially at the General Electric Co. before going to Berkshire Cleaners, Marland Mold and lastly MoldMaster on Newell St.She retired in 2008.
Mary was married to Robert L. Teal, Sept. 27, 1947 at the former St. Mary’s Church here. Bob died in March 19, 1984. A communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, she enjoyed Bowling in the Cocktail League at Jeff’s Bowling , doing both crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Most of all, she enjoyed the company of her family. She was very proud of her family’s role in law enforcement. Her father was a patrolman as were many of her siblings, nephews and cousins. Mary, as a means to honor their service, would take it upon herself to help place a Police Flag on the graves of the deceased members of the police for Memorial Day.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie M. Menin and her husband, Lawrence, of Pittsfield, her son, Stephen L. Teal and his wife, Cheryl of Cape Coral, Fl., her sister, Regina Favre of Pittsfield, , her 3 granddaughters, Jeanne Quiros, Jennifer Stuckey and Jaclyn Walker, her grandson, Lawrence R. Menin and 4 great-grandsons Keith and Luke Menin, Joshua Stuckey and Casey Walker, and her great-granddaughter, Justine Stuckey. She is also survived by her very dear friend and ‘ a daughter from another mother ’, Carol Baird and many nieces and nephews
Teal, Mary E. Danford, age 88 of Pittsfield, died March 22nd. Calling hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be FRIDAY from 4 to 7 . Funeral services will be held SATURDAY morning at 8:15 from the funeral home followed with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church with the Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor, officiating Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
