Mary C. (Dastoli) Torra

July 16, 1924 ~ October 12, 2018 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Tribute

Mrs. Mary C. Dastoli Torra, age 94, died Friday, October 12, 2018 at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility with her loving family by her side.

She was a lifetime resident of Pittsfield and the daughter of Antonio and Carmella Ruscio Dastoli born on July 16, 1924.  Mary graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1942 and began her employment working at General Electric.  Throughout her career, she also worked as a bookkeeper for various companies including Patrick C. Torra Construction, Browns Trucking, Kelly Dietrich, Kerns Trucking, Tiny Towne & Luv Bug. 

A faithful communicant of the former Mt. Carmel Church, Mary continued to practice her faith at several of the area churches following the closing of Mt. Carmel. Stopping by and visiting, be you family or friend brought her the most joy. Once you were there, she insisted on serving something to eat as she so enjoyed cooking and baking for everyone she knew. She was accomplished in the art of needlepoint and could also “resurrect” any house plant, bringing it back to life.

She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Patrick C. Torra.  They were married at Mt. Carmel Church on June 1, 1946.

Mary is survived by her 4 sons, Joseph A. Torra and wife, Deidre of Pittsfield, James M. Torra  and wife, Patricia  of Pittsfield, Patrick C. Torra of Wells, ME,  Paul J. Torra and wife, Karen of Pittsfield, her 3 daughters, Eileen M. Moynihan and husband, Robert of Dalton, Laura A. Fichtner and husband, Alan, of  New Berlin,WI, and Mary Ellen Ramsey and husband, John of Groveland,MA, her two brothers, Francis Dastoli and wife Eleanor of Toledo,OH and James Dastoli of Pittsfield, her 13 grandchildren, Bryan Torra,  Miranda Rutherford, Jason Krieger, James M. Torra, Jr., Matthew Torra, Nathan Torra,  Kimberly Gavagan, Allison Gallagher, Erich Fichtner, Jessica Wolfgram, Meghan Ramsey, Nicole Ramsey, Jeanna Tinney as well as 15 great grandchildren and many other extended family members and close friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Dominic, Anthony, George, Joseph, and Albert Dastoli and her 2 sisters, Elizabeth Ruscio and Laura D’Angelo.

SERVICES: Calling Hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be on Tuesday, October 16th 4 to 7pm. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, Oct. 17th at 10am at St. Agnes Church in Dalton with the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow with her husband in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to either Elder Services or HospiceCare in the Berkshires.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff and nurses of Sugar Hill, where she resided prior to her passing, along with Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility, and Hospice Care in the Berkshires for the loving care and compassion they have shown our entire family.
