Mary Shirley (Greene) Nagelschmidt of Millbury, MA formerly of Clearwater, FL and Pittsfield, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2017, surrounded by her family. Born in Ware, MA on March 2, 1923, daughter of the late John H. and Helena G. (Skiffington) Greene, she attended local schools and was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She and her late husband, Harry John Nagelschmidt, were married November 11, 1952 and were the proprietors of Nagelschmidt's Market on Linden Street, retiring in 1987.  She and her husband, moved to Florida in 1999. A lifelong communicant of Saint Mark Church, she was a member of its Rosary Sodality, and volunteered as the attendance secretary for CCD.  Prior to her marriage she worked at Berkshire Auto, Eaton Paper and Hampden Brewing Company.  Shirley was a Retired Senior Volunteer in the Hillcrest Hospital Gift Shop for over 20 years earning her 3000 hour pin.

She is survived by her sons Charles R. Nagelschmidt II and his wife Denise of Colchester, VT, and John H. Nagelschmidt, Commander, USN, Retired, and his wife Donna with whom she resided. She was affectionately called Grandma by her granddaughters, Mary and her fiancée Sarah Barchi of Worcester, Claire and Rose, both of Millbury.  She is also survived by sister Kathryn Yarmey, and sister-in-law Geraldine Greene both of Pittsfield and her daughter’s partner, Myra Hickman of Clearwater, FL along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was predeceased by her daughter Ann M. Nagelschmidt with whom she lived in Florida and her brother William Greene.

Nagelschmidt, Mary Shirley, age 94, formerly of Pittsfield, died Oct. 20th. Calling hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be Thursday Oct 26th  from 5-7 PM. Funeral services will be held  Friday morning, Oct. 27th  at  8:45 am from  Devanny-Condron Funeral Home followed with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at  9:30 AM at St. Mark Church with the Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph’s Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pittsfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the upcoming Pancreatic Cancer Purple Stride walk in her daughter Ann’s memory at www.AllAboutAnnie.com or to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network care of the funeral home.
