Mr. Michael T. Higgins, Sr., of 413 West St. Pittsfield, died Monday morning at the at Hillcrest Commons after a brief illness. He was born in Pittsfield, Nov. 2, 1965, the son of the late Thomas and Catherine Murphy Higgins. He attended the local schools and was a graduate of Taconic High School where he played varsity basketball. Employed as a construction laborer, Michael was later employed as a licensed asbestos removal technician. He enjoyed fishing and watching “his Miami Dolphins”. In his early years, Mike played basketball at the former CYC and later played Babe Ruth Baseball.
In his mothers’ later years, Michael took good care of her prior to her death. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time and raising his two children.
He is survived by his children, Michael T. Higgins, Jr. and Catherine J. Higgins, both at home, his many aunts uncles and cousins, the mother of his children, Bonnie Kane, and his many friends.
The family will receive friends FRIDAY morning, April 12th beginning at 10 am at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00 am with Rev. Christopher Fedoryshyn, administrator at St. Mark’s Church, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
