Michael A. Jones

Michael A. Jones-Austin died October 5, 2023 at his residence at Soldier On in Pittsfield, MA.

Born Oct. 1, 1957, Michael was a son of Labrun Austin (Rochester,NY) and the late Willeen Austin(2010).

He grew up in Housatonic, MA and was a 1975 graduate of Monument Mountain Reg. High School. Following graduation, Michael went on to honorably serve in the US Army from 1977-1981. He was honorably discharged with the rank of PV1.

Over the years, he worked many jobs. His favorite was the time he spent working at Worcester State Hospital. He also spent time at Lee Paper Company and worked for many years as a taxi driver both in Florida and in Massachusetts. Michael was also proud of the many hours he volunteered driving others.

Mike is survived by his children, Brian Jones of Albany, NY; Jordan Jones of Lanesborough, MA; and Alexandria Lowell of Brockton, MA, 4 grandchildren to include Amara Jones, and his siblings, Rhonda Austin of Rochester, NY; Darryl Austin of Housatonic, MA; Richard Austin of Pittsfield, MA Tiffany Austin of Rochester, NY; Heather Austin of Rochester, NY; Nicole Austin of Albany, NY; Marcus Austin of Springfield, MA; Jaron Austin of Maine; Andre Austin of Boston, MA; and Shamiya Morton-Austin of Rochester, NY. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and close friends, especially within the Soldier On community.

A funeral service with military honors for Michael will be MONDAY, November 6, 2023 beginning at 1PM at Soldier On, 360 West Housatonic St. Pittsfield, MA
