Tribute

Michael Robert Kickery, age 64, a life-long resident of Pittsfield passed away at home on Friday, January 14, 2022 surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mike was born February 18, 1957, a son of Kenneth E. Kickery, Sr. and the late Vivian Horton Kickery. He was educated in the local schools and attended Taconic High School. He spent many years working as a building maintenance person for Berkshire Learning Center, the former Riverview West and Rolling Hills Condominiums. A true jack of all trades, Mike also did many odd jobs over the years.
He loved fixing things and enjoyed the challenge that came with being a handyman. He was always the person his friends and family came to when something was in need of repair and he loved to help anyone who asked. Mike even worked on automobiles in his younger years and was talented with woodworking, carpentry and wood turning.
Mike and his brothers-in-law spent countless seasons deer hunting together. He also loved fishing, mostly freshwater and brook fishing as well as ice fishing, and he shared that love with his son and grandsons.
He was an outstanding cook and was an animal lover. He will be missed by his beloved dog Duncan. His last dog, Eve, lived to be 17.
Mike married the former Christine G. Stevenson on May 17, 1980. This year they would have celebrated 42 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by his son, Kenneth Stevenson Kickery (Haley), his grandsons, Draven and Banner, and his father Kenneth E. Kickery, Sr., all of Pittsfield. He also leaves his siblings, Kathy Hillard (Chuck), Linda Kavey (Michael), Kenneth Kickery, Jr. (Gerry), and Norman Kickery, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and cousins. In addition to his mother, Mike was predeceased by his Aunt Ethel and Uncle Bud Kickery and by his brother-in-law Jim Kavey.
Mike's family would like to extend a special thanks to his careteam at Berkshire Hematology and Oncolgy as well as the outstanding caregivers with Hospice Care in the Berkshires.
