Mitchell Dean Decelles

Mitchell Dean Decelles, age 22, of Pittsfield passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at home. 

He was born April 28, 2001 a son of Edward and Nancy Decelles. 

Mitchell was educated in the local schools and following graduation from Taconic High School went on to study at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the Civil Engineering Program.  During his time in college he was a member of Alpha Chi Rho fraternity, American Society of Civil Engineers and Ski Club.  Mitchell worked hard and graduated a semester early with his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 2022. 

After college, Mitchell went on to work for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation as a Design Engineer, where he had spent his summers as an intern.  He was on the path to becoming a licensed Professional Engineer as he immediately passed his certification exam for Engineer in Training. 

He enjoyed baseball, basketball and downhill skiing and enjoyed many summer vacation trips with his family and friends.  Travel had become Mitchell’s latest passion and had enjoyed his latest trip to Germany. He was looking forward to seeing the world.

Mitchell is survived by his parents, Edward and Nancy, his triplet siblings, Carly and Parker Decelles, and other sisters, Mary Decelles and Jacqueline (Greg) Herrman, grandparents, Ralph and Lucille Decelles, nieces, Hadley and Jocelyn Herrman and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  Mitchell was predeceased by his grandparents Jack and Mary Robinson. 

Graveside services will be held privately at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the “BMC Cancer & Infusion Center” and mailed to the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home at 40 Maplewood Ave. Pittsfield, MA 01201
