Patricia Ann (Bartley) Johnson

1941 ~ 2021 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Tribute

On March 27, 2021,Patricia joined God in Heaven after a 4- year battle with multiple myeloma, a form of cancer that caused her enormous pain, so now she is at peace in the Heavenly kingdom of God. Patricia passed, at her home in Davenport, Florida, with her loving family beside her.
Pat graduated from Dalton High School in 1959, and went on to study mathematics and education at Westfield State College until her graduation in 1963. While at Westfield she was a proud member of their Glee Club and had the honor of singing at Rockefeller Plaza in NYC. She earned her Master's degree in 1979 from Russell Sage College.
Patricia was an educator for 40 years beginning her career in the Pittsfield Public Schools at North Junior High School, then teaching in Rockland County, New York and finishing her tenure at her beloved Wahconah Regional High School. She taught mathematics to thousands of students over the years, many of whom, have fond memories of her lessons, one being the infamous icosahedron project made out of greeting cards or the giant eggs made out of strings representing vertices in Geometry. Everyone knew the first room on the right in A-corridor, A8, belonged to Mrs. Johnson at WRHS.
Patricia was an active member of the Wahconah community, as yearbook advisor, class advisor and NHS advisor for over 25 years. Student athletes would also see Mrs. Johnson in the stands or on the sidelines of a playing field, cheering them on as she seldom missed an event. She supported all students at Wahconah albeit the musicals, plays, concerts or academic events she was one of the whole student bodies biggest cheerleaders.
Pat was also a member of College Club of Pittsfield, where she would often host their infamous dinner parties. Hosting parties and holiday celebrations for friends and family was the norm for Pat. She loved cooking and having family around to celebrate special events. No matter what the holiday or event everyone knew Pat would be the host and that that was the place to be.
Anyone who knew Ron & Pat knew they traveled the world and loved seeing new places and meeting new people. Their favorite places being Aruba, Disney, Alaska and Australia. Cruising became their passion in their later years. It was on these cruises where they made lifelong friendships with people from all over the world.
Upon retirement Pat & Ron moved to Davenport, Florida where she worked at Disney for 10 years. Pat loved working for her favorite mouse. While working at Disney she was a vacation planner and sang at EPCOT during the holiday season. Her Disney friends and family will forever hold a special place in her heart and her families.
Pat and Ron had a strong faith in God. She and Ron would attend mass daily and both were Eucharistic ministers. Pat was also a member of the Rosary Society. She was honored to receive the Pope Pius X award for her service to Saint Francis Church as Parish Council President, Religious Education teacher and service to the church for many years. Her faith is what got her through this terrible disease.
Patricia's family meant the world to her. Her husband Ron was the light of her life. They would have celebrated 58 years of marriage on June 22,2021. He has been her primary caregiver these last four years during this painful illness. He has been her Angel on Earth and now it is her turn to be his Angel in Heaven and watch over him.
She is also survived, by her children, her daughter, Maureen (Johnson) Boino, and son-in-law Kevin, her son, Steven Johnson and daughter-in-law Sheri, and six grandchildren, Jacqueline (Christopher), Kevin, Catherine, Patrick, Cameron and Tiffany. She would never miss a soccer game, basketball game, baseball game or a dance recital. She was always there to support all of her grandchildren. She also leaves her brother John Bartley and sister-in-law Bev and their children, nephew Timothy, (Kaitlyn), and niece Kellie. She also loved all the woofers in her life and they will miss her sneaking them treats of cheese when mom and dad were not looking. She was pre-deceased by her parents, John and Dorothy Bartley.
Patricia had so many wonderful friends over the years and we will be forever grateful to those who called, visited, sent cards and prayed for her these past few years. Her Massachusetts friends, Mary & Gary, who recently made the long journey to visit Pat shortly before her passing, Marilyn & Tony, Joanne & Carl and Joan & Bill have been a great support to her and Ron. Her Florida friends, Dee & Richard, Sandy & Carl, Maryann & Bob, Kitty & Bob, Georgine, Sylvia and the "Outback friends" have been there, everyday helping care for both Ron and Pat with whatever they needed. Of course there are so many more who kept them in their prayers and we are eternally grateful to all of them.
Her cousin Nancy and husband Fran Pignone, have been a rock of faith and support; recently coming to visit and give her the love of family that she knew in her heart surrounded her everyday, even when she could no longer speak or eat. Nancy was like the sister Pat and she never had. They grew up together on the same street, within the same family, having the same friends, going to the same school and both ultimately teaching together at Wahconah.
The family will be eternally grateful for the care Cornerstone Hospice gave Patricia and the support they gave Ron through these last four months. We are especially grateful to her Hospice Health Aide Marianne (Mar) who loved her and cared for her with such tenderness until the very end. Gratitude and thankfulness will forever be in our hearts, for two Hospice nurses, Elizabeth and Christine, whose strength and love got us through these last two weeks.
There will be a Memorial Mass at Corpus Christi Church at 11:00am, in Celebration, Florida on April 23,2021. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be on May 12, 2021 at 10:00 am at Saint Agnes in Dalton, Massachusetts, with burial to follow. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established in Patricia's name at Wahconah Regional High School to benefit students who choose to pursue a career in teaching, preferably mathematics. Please make your donations payable to the "Patricia Johnson Scholarship Fund" in care of the
