Patricia H. O'Brien

August 3, 1933 ~ March 27, 2023 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Tribute

Patricia H. Mooney O'Brien, 89, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving children on Monday March 27, 2023.
Pat was born in Pittsfield on August 3, 1933, to the late William and Blanche Mooney. She graduated from St. Joseph High School where she met the love of her life, John "Jack" O'Brien. They married in 1951 and started their family soon after. As the family grew, so did Pat's commitment to her seven children. She worked tirelessly as a full-time stay at home mom. For Pat, it was a labor of love.
As a communicant of Sacred Heart Parish, and past member of the Charismatic Renewal and Good Shepard Community, Pat lived with devotion and trust in God. Her faith was an integral part of her life, was reflected in every decision she made and was evident to everyone she met. Those who knew Pat were often amazed by the strength, peace and grace she would demonstrate in difficult times. Her contribution as a Eucharistic Minister, CCD teacher, RICA instructor and 45-years of involvement in her share group are a testament to Pat's love of God and desire to share her faith with others.
In what little free time Pat had, she would shower her 24 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren with love and kindness. Somehow, Pat made every one of them feel special and forever they will hold a special place in their heart for their Nana.
Pat loved the ocean, and her happy place was soaking up the sun and sand on Myrtle Beach. They would travel there several times each year often hosting their children and grandchildren. Summers were spent at their cottage and family compound on Richmond Pond where gatherings of five to twenty-five could happen on any given weekend. Of their many travels, their trip to Italy was perhaps her favorite. Celebrating Easter at the Vatican was an experience Pat often talked about.
Pat was predeceased by her loving husband, Jack, her sister Rita Robinson, nephew Donald Robinson and her eldest daughter, Kathleen Johnson. She is survived by her son-in law Sam Johnson, her children, Maureen Cimini (Reno), John O'Brien (Linda), Patti Kelly, Anne O'Brien (John), Daniel O'Brien (Brenda), Bridget King (Chris), 24 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, her niece Donna Maloney, her brother-in-law David O'Brien and his wife Joanne and countless other nieces, nephews and close friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Katie Wiater for being a constant in the O'Brien family and for her lifelong friendship with them all, especially Pat's daughter Kathy.
