Patrick J. Prendergast, 63, of Becket died unexpectedly November 7, 2023 at his home. He was the son of the late Robert “Bees” and Nancy Shaffer Prendergast.
Patrick had retired last year from Hillcrest Educational Centers after over 30 years of service in the maintenance department. He kept himself busy in his retirement working around Becket doing home repairs and outdoor pool maintenance for his customers. But what he enjoyed most was playing music. He was a great bass player and was in many Berkshire County bands through the years, Rude, RiffRaff, The Chandler Brothers and most recently, The Barons of Becket.
Patrick was also a true “car guy”, always working on a new project, with his 1929 Rat Rod being his favorite. He was also the person you always wanted on your trivia team, the person you called when your “check engine” light was on, and the person you wanted when you had to install a new ceiling fan. He was a great brother to his four sisters, a good dad to his son, a loving grandpa to his two grandchildren and a wonderful friend to all who knew him. His sense of humor, patience, intelligence and easy going disposition will certainly be missed.
He leaves his son Matthew Prendergast and Matthew’s wife, Jaime Prendergast. His two grandchildren Hailee and Bradley Prendergast. His four sisters, Amy Green, Sarah Auxier, Bridget Roy and Kate Burke. His brothers in law, Tim Auxier, Keith Roy and Gerard Burke. Nieces and nephews, Rebecca Brennan, Jade Roy, Brooke Roy, Thomas Green Jr., Riley Burke, Maggie Burke and Graham Auxier, who all adored their Uncle Patrick.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held this Sunday, November 12, from 1pm-5pm at “Papa Bob’s Restaurant” in Becket. All are welcome to stop in to share a memory, tell a story and raise a toast to Patrick.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Patrick’s memory to the Becket Fire or Ambulance Departments.
